Guidelines for Separate Genres

Important! Please include a separate cover sheet containing the following information with each submission copy: name, phone number, address, email, titles of all pieces (and genre) submitted along with the number of pages of work. Authors name on anything other than the cover sheet is prohibited.

Please feel free to develop your work beyond one medium. You'll improve your chances at publication and also your artistic ability!

    Fiction & Short Drama:
  • Submit no more than three stories, 5,000 words or less. Three copies of each story are required, each set with a separate coversheet. Put title and page # on the top of each page (no names).

    Creative Non-Fiction:
  • Submit no more than three pieces. Three copies of each story are required, each set with a separate coversheet. Put the title and page # on the top of each page (no names). We do not accept research papers.

    Poetry:
  • Submit no more than four poems. May be any length or form, with the title at the top of each page if the poem is longer than one page. Submit three copies of each poem—each with a separate coversheet. Since we receive many poems that are untitled, please include the first line of the poem on the coversheet, so we know whose untitled poem goes to who.

    Art and Photography:
  • All artwork must be submitted digitally, CD or email. Any reasonable number of submissions may be accepted. Take a high resolution photograph of your artwork or sculptures, make sure that the dimensions are reasonable, and simply burn them to a CD as a .JPEG, or attach them in an email to QUILT@UT.EDU if you are submitting a small amount of submissions. Include the title of each piece and the artwork’s medium in the name of the file. Also, include contact information in the email body or in a word document on the CD, which includes your name, phone number, email address, and UT box number.
